NSWS VALUES
An important message about our guiding philosophies
NSWS believes our differences make us better individuals, students, and nurses.
We continually work to embrace student nurses and people of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, citizenship status, religious beliefs, gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, educational backgrounds, health status, housing status, relationship and family status, and socioeconomic status.
Any sort of negative language, action, or exclusionary behavior directed towards communities and marginalized groups is strictly not tolerated and actively renounced by our organization.
The board of Nursing Students of Washington State recognizes our privilege as persons who operate in systems of power related to personal characteristics and the inherent power influence as a caretaker.
WA Nursing Students are greater caretakers as a diverse, accepting, and inclusive group that recognizes the significance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice throughout nursing, the healthcare system, and the world.
As an organization representing those who reside and learn in Washington State, it is essential we acknowledge the indigenous people who are the historic, original, and current inhabitants and caretakers of the land. The indigenous people of Washington State continue to play an essential and defining role in the care, culture, and history of our state.
There are 29 federally recognized tribes in Washington State. Nursing Students of Washington State live, learn, and work on unceded, unlawfully, and violently seized land. We must reflect and recognize the significance of the history and present dedication of the indigenous people to the land we inhabit.
We understand that the above statements are meaningless without action and commitment to these acknowledgements and values.
We are always open to input - please contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns.
